Vehicles come and go from the automotive marketplace all the time, but when it is a model that you have been selling for years and years, it can be hard to say goodbye. Recently, we learned that two models that are currently featured in our new Chrysler group inventory will be retired before the next model year. This is a sad day, but sometimes the herd needs to be thinned for the sake of the entire product line.
The first vehicle that will be getting put back on the shelf is the Chrysler 200 Convertible. Once the first-generation 200 was introduced to replace the Chrysler Sebring, sales of 200 Convertible models only accounted for five percent of all 200 sales. Now with the redesigned 2015 Chrysler 200 on its way, the drop-top will not be returning.
The second model that was announced to be getting the axe is the Dodge Avenger. This model occupies a space between the smaller Dodge Dart and the larger Dodge Charger. Sales of this model have been down in recent years and perhaps the brand has plans to engineer a replacement, although one has not yet been announced.
