Ah, the dreaded check engine light. When it comes on, everyone runs for cover. Well, it isn't usually as bad as you may expect it to be. Unless it's blinking-then you do need to take your car in right away because it could be more serious. But otherwise, it could be one of many things. According to CarMD (2010) the most common check engine light codes were the O2 sensor, a loose gas cap, the catalytic converter, the mass air flow sensor, or it had something to do with the spark plug wires. Sometimes even a simple change in humidity is enough to trip the sensor and will eventually go off on its own. But assume for the worst and take your ride in as soon as you can to get piece of mind and to make sure your car is safe. So, the sensors are your friends-keeping you informed.
